I had a very unpleasant experience at this store today as an Asian woman. I arrived around 4:30 p.m., when the store was not busy. There were more associates than customers. The associate at the entrance saw me but did not greet me. While I spent a few minutes looking at two jackets near the entrance, I noticed that she greeted every group of customers entering the store and said goodbye to everyone leaving. All of them were white. I walked around the store and browsed other sections, but not a single associate greeted me, asked if I needed help, or even acknowledged me. Although I liked some of the styles, I decided not to buy anything. I don't want to spend my money at a store where I feel unwelcome and ignored. When I left, the same associate who had cheerfully farewelled other customers once again pretended not to see me. I cannot know for certain why I was treated this way, but the contrast in how I was treated compared with white customers was hard to ignore. As an Asian woman, I left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Every customer deserves the same basic courtesy, regardless of race. This experience was deeply disappointing.
